Principal Ray Garcia-Morales is a passionate and dedicated educational leader with over 25 years of experience in school administration. He focuses on student success, equity, and transformative education. His career has spanned various leadership roles, including Assistant Principal at Tyee High School and Cleveland High School and Principal at Chief Sealth International High School. Throughout his career, he has worked to ensure that students have the resources, guidance, and support they need to thrive academically and personally. Ray began his journey in education in 2004 as a School Social Worker at the Bronx High School for Writing and Communication Arts, where he advocated for students’ well-being, managed academic portfolios, and supported students with diverse needs, including multilingual learners and those with IEPs. His work as a social worker shaped his understanding of the importance of addressing students' academic and emotional needs. After relocating to Seattle, Ray continued his work at Cleveland High School as a School Social Worker, where he remained committed to advocating for students and strengthening the school community. In 2011, Ray transitioned into school administration, beginning as Principal Intern and later serving as Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at Tyee High School. During his time there, he focused on improving school culture, creating a safe environment, and ensuring that students were academically challenged while receiving the support they needed to succeed. His leadership at Tyee allowed him to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community, laying the foundation for future leadership roles. Ray returned to Cleveland High School in 2015 as Assistant Principal, where he worked to develop school safety measures further, foster academic rigor, and enhance community involvement. He played a key role in ensuring students felt safe and supported in their learning environment while striving to improve educational outcomes. In 2021, Ray was appointed Principal at Chief Sealth International High School, where he focused on creating an inclusive and engaging environment for students, improving school culture, and increasing community involvement. His leadership led to improved academic performance, more vigorous staff development, and a deeper focus on student mental health and well-being. Beyond his work in education, Ray co-founded Rebels & Scholars, a clothing brand focused on social justice. The brand provided scholarships to undocumented students and promoted community engagement through events like Pop-up Markets. Although he stepped away from the business to focus on his role as Principal, his work with Rebels & Scholars reflects his commitment to empowering students and advocating for positive social change. Ray is committed to community service and has supported several local organizations, including El Centro de la Raza, YouthCare, and the Latino Community Fund. He continues volunteering with the Union Gospel Mission and the Washington State Department of Corrections, further contributing to his mental health and social equity dedication. A Seattle native, Ray Garcia-Morales draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, which fuels his ongoing passion for education and service. His career reflects his deep commitment to ensuring that all students have access to opportunities that enable them to succeed, regardless of their background, and he continues to make a lasting impact on the communities he serves.
