The WWI.gif project by OKKULT Motion Pictures

We have just joined the First World War Centenary Programme, ‘a vibrant global programme of cultural events and activities and online resources, connecting current and future generations with the lives, stories and impact of the First World War’.

Our aim is to take part in this global commemoration with a dedicate project called WWI.gif: a collection of animated GIFs excerpted from WWI videos. It’s a chance to commemorate the millions of lives lost during one the most cruel conflicts of human history, and also to highlight the power of the animated GIF as a source for storytelling as well as a knowledge transfer medium.

All WWI GIFs will be tagged with #wwigif and published under aÂ CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

A series of GIFs excerpted from The Child Molester, produced by the Highway Safety Foundation in 1964. This shocking film deals with a subject quite taboo for its time. The short serves as a dramatized warning, ending with graphic case studies. Unlike the driver’s education films produced by the same company, this film was apparently issued for only a short time before being withdrawn.
