A Great Big World

@agreatbigworld
Hi we are Ian Axel and Chad King ✨ Our new single "Away We Go" is out now! True to the meaning of its name, A Great Big World encompasses the GRAMMY® Award-winning artistry of Ian Axel and Chad King. Throughout the duo's nearly 20-year career, they've gained a great deal of notoriety and praise for their songwriting and collaborative efforts, which to date have spanned projects in film, television and animation, in addition to a multitude of critically acclaimed music releases. Drawing on a mutual appreciation for musicals and the art of songcraft, they forged an unbreakable creative bond together upon meeting in 2005 at New York University. The world initially fell in love with their music when the group delivered a definitive anthem in the form of “Say Something” which featured Christina Aguilera. The single notably reached six-times Platinum status, gathered over one-billion streams, and garnered a 2015 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” Their following 2014 full-length debut, Is There Anybody Out There?, debuted in the Top three of the Billboard 200 chart, and went on to achieve Gold status, cementing the group's undeniable grasp on the culture. They continued to captivate audiences with a series of studio album releases; 2015's When The Morning Comes, and 2021's Particles. The impact of A Great Big World's "Say Something" has only become more realized over the years, and the group commemorated the classic single with the 2024 releases of three new reimagined versions, inviting global audiences to join in celebrating the music that touched so many hearts over 10-years ago. In addition to new versions of “Say Something”, the full EP entitled “then there were sparks” also included two brand new songs, “Go On” and the single, “then there were sparks”. Marking the newest chapter of the band, a brand new song entitled “Away We Go” will be released on August 1, 2025, with two more songs to follow throughout the year. Fans will be able to hear “Away We Go” performed live, when A Great Big World supports Rob Thomas on his The All Night Days Tour, beginning August 1 in Atlanta, GA. As creators, the group's presence has unassumingly coursed through popular culture. Among countless sync licenses, the cast of Glee famously performed their song “This Is The New Year” in a 2013 episode, as well as their song “Rockstar” shortly thereafter. In 2018, they penned the song “Fall On Me” for Andrea Bocelli with his son Matteo Bocelli, which appeared on the legendary singer's 16th studio album Si, and graced the soundtrack and end credits of the film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. That same year, they wrote “Return to Love” for Bocelli and Ellie Goulding, and recently wrote “Holding On,” a new collaboration for Bocelli and Gwen Stefani that is featured on his latest 2024 Duets album. In 2023, they contributed music to popular children’s brand Slumberkins® and recently released “Nothing’s Impossible” featuring Rachel Platten, an original composition the group wrote for Studio Ponoc’s critically praised Japanese animated feature film, The Imaginary. Directed by Yoshiyuki Momose (Modest Heroes, Tomorrow’s Leaves), the film was released worldwide through Netflix in July of 2024. Ian and Chad maintain a commitment to vulnerable, clever, earnest, and heartfelt songwriting above all. “The thread between everything we do is our writing,” notes Ian. “We’re like brothers, and our connection inspires how we write. We found each other, stayed together through all of this time, and our writing together has become a form of therapy for us.” “We chose the name A Great Big World as an umbrella for everything we want to do,” adds Chad. “The goal is for all of our creativity to exist under this.” Next up, A Great Big World is putting the finishing touches on music and lyrics for the musical adaption of Wonder, based on the novel by R.J. Palacio and the Lionsgate film, set to debut at ART’s Loeb Drama Center on December 9, 2025. Now widening their accolades to include theatrical production, their story is still just beginning.
