Known as Maro, born and raised in Beirut, singer/songwriter Marwan Daou creates the sort of deceptively simple pop songs that contain deep layers of feeling. As a kid growing up in Lebanon, he started writing songs in his mid-teens in order to cope with the loneliness of constantly moving, and within a year began busking on the streets of his hometown. A self-taught guitarist and classically trained piano player, he also amassed a devoted online fanbase of a 1,000,000 followers across all platforms, thanks to his covers of songs by artists as eclectic Radiohead, Lil Peep, and XXXTentacion . With a vocal presence that’s quietly captivating—and a tremendous singing talent that includes performing in seven different languages. As he ventured into writing his own music, Maro started sharing snippets of it on Instagram and YouTube, which quickly raised the demand for the release of his original music, giving a mix of both sad and emo vibe, but still a hint of pop to them. He now makes his official debut with a series of singles both sweetly understated and emotionally powerful.
