The Polish Narcolepsy Association was established in 2022 to increase public awareness and understanding of narcolepsy. Today, it is the largest patient organisation in Poland uniting individuals living with narcolepsy and their relatives. Its members include people diagnosed with type 1 narcolepsy, type 2 narcolepsy, and idiopathic hypersomnia, as well as family members, partners, and individuals currently undergoing the diagnostic process. The Association’s mission is to promote education, awareness, and access to proper care for people affected by narcolepsy. It fulfils these goals through training programmes, publication of educational materials, and organisation of nationwide scientific conferences, known as “Meetings with Narcolepsy.” Another key objective is to improve access to diagnosis and treatment and to reduce the average time to diagnosis, which in Poland can currently take up to 10 years.
