Born on Montreal’s south shore from a Japanese mother and a French father, Soran grew up surrounded by his dad’s musical instruments. In 2015 he recorded a fifteen-second video in his bedroom that, much to his surprise, received hundreds of reactions on social media. Several other videos followed – mostly outstanding covers of songs he’d heard once and recreated in his own style. To balance out his ever-growing online success, he enjoyed performing anonymously in the metro. This is where he caught the eye of uber-popular TV show La Voix (The Voice) producers. A few months later, all four judges turned their chair during his unique take on Hotel California. Fond of playing music more than of listening to it, Soran returned to song writing, feverishly composing and recording catchy hits. His first original song released late last year was I Wish, a blast of pop tinged with R&B and funk. This was followed by a near-viral remix covering the trendy Yodeling Kid tune, which quickly reached a million views on YouTube. A few months later he released Time to Time + Julia, two new songs that garnered a million streams in less than a month.
