In the middle of Iceland receiving sovereignty from Denmark, the Spanish Flu tearing through Reykjavik, the end of the World War One and one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded Icelandic history a few chaps thought it would be a splendid idea to start a confectionary company... and what a splendid idea it turned out to be.
