Good communication is a key priority for the European Union (EU) in its partnership with the countries of its Eastern Neighbourhood, helping people to understand the EU and its cooperation with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
The EUNEIGHBOURS east website is an important communication platform in this regard, designed as a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about cooperation and relations between the European Union and its Eastern partners. It has been developed by the EU-funded Regional Communication Programme for the Eastern Neighbourhood, EU NEIGHBOURS east.
The four-year programme (2020-2024) aims to enhance the EU’s communication in the region, improve public understanding of the European Union and its policies, and build resilience against disinformation in the EU and its Eastern Neighbourhood. It complements and supports the communication efforts of the Delegations of the European Union in the Eastern partner countries, and works under the guidance of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and the European External Action Service.
Apart from managing the EUNEIGHBOURS east website, the programme’s activities include thematic communication campaigns, public diplomacy actions, opinion polling and outreach in partnership with youth activists, media partners, national authorities, civil society organisations, academia and different professional networks and associations. It also manages the network of Young European Ambassadors.
